Prerequisites

In order for VARS to run on your system you will need to install Java 5.0 or a more recent version of Java. VARS will not run on Java 1.4. Also, the annotation application will not run unless QuickTime for Java is installed.

Detailed Instructions

The following steps describe the prerequisites for running VARS:

1. Installing Java
   You can download Java from http://www.java.com. Simply download the installer and run it.
2. Installing QuickTime for Java
   Download the QuickTime installer or iTunes installer from Apple and execute it.
3. Installing VARS
   You do not need to install VARS in order to run it. You can simply launch them from http://seaspray.shore.mbari.org/vars.
